A young beauty from the Kansei period is playing with her kitty - despite the title the cat looks rather pleased with the attention!
Perhaps it's the viewer who is invited to be annoyed at the lady, who looses all her manners at the sight of a cute cat?.. Her little mouth open in delight, probably saying sweet nothings to the cat, she's completely lost in excitement, never minding her expensive and elaborate hairdo being ruined or her gorgeous outfit being crinkled (and possibly covered in cat hair) ♥
