A large Japanese art greeting card featuring Utagawa Hiroshige's Wakanoura Coast, Kii Province (紀伊 和歌之浦 / Wakanoura, Kii), 1855, from his series Famous Places of the Sixty-odd Provinces.

A flock of cranes sweeps across the morning sky above Wakanoura's calm coastline, while temple buildings, tidal flats and distant mountains unfold below. Hiroshige gives the scene a wonderful sense of openness and movement, with the birds carrying the eye across the broad coastal landscape.

- Blank inside for your own message
- Deep red envelope included
- A5 – 14.8 × 21 cm (5.8 × 8.3 in)
- Fully printed front and back

More than a card

Turn the card over to discover the story behind the artwork. The fully printed back includes the artwork title in English and Japanese, a short introduction to the scene, and our Look Closer feature — highlighting a detail, story or compositional trick that might otherwise be missed.

A specially chosen Japanese hanko, inspired by the spirit of the print, completes the design.

Beautiful enough to keep as well as send, the card is suitable for birthdays, thank-yous, anniversaries, congratulations or simply writing to someone just because.

Printed in rich colour on silk-finish art card, giving Hiroshige's original woodblock colours depth and vibrancy with a soft sheen. The generous A5 format also makes the card lovely for framing afterwards as a miniature art print.

Printed in the UK using eco-friendly toner on card made from sustainably sourced pulp and produced as part of the Carbon Capture Programme.

Also available: as part of curated Hiroshige sets of five and ten cards.
