The Kameido Tenjin Shrine cited in the title is not actually present in the picture, instead its presence is indicated by its "taikobashi" drum bridge, recognisable by its very specific flame-shaped copper ornaments on the railings, here offset by the light-coloured sky. The lush cascade of the wisteria blossoms in the foreground is admired by the passers-by, who stop one by one to gaze from the distant sidewalk decorated by bright red paper lanterns. The deep hues of the pines and the river and the fast flickering of the swallows here and there above the water add to the feeling of a warmth on this summer's day...
