"An Elegant Genji in Snow" (Fūryū Genji Yuki no Nagame 風流源氏雪の眺) tryptych by Utagawa Kunisada and Utagawa Hiroshige, 1853.

★ Printed on a high-quality ceramic mug and presented in a matching box with traditional Japanese "asanoha" all-over pattern and calligraphy of the artists' names and titles of the artwork.

This print should be called "an impossibly elegant Genji in snow ". The protagonist, in his as-always-stunning attire, turns his flawless face to the snowy garden scene - and to the symmetrically impossibly elegant lady across the garden, who is holding a snow broom with a graceful gesture. The three little birds fluttering in the air in the centre of the image add the balance masterstroke for the eye moving between two beautiful figures and across the snowy landscape.
It truly takes a combined work of TWO (!) masters of ukiyo-e, Utagawa Hiroshige and Utagawa Kunisada, to create this level of beauty ✨
