This print should be called "an impossibly elegant Genji in snow ". The protagonist, in his as-always-stunning attire, turns his flawless face to the snowy garden scene. The three little birds fluttering in the air add the balance masterstroke for the eye moving from the beautiful figure to the snowy landscape behind it.
It truly takes a combined work of TWO (!) masters of ukiyo-e, Utagawa Hiroshige and Utagawa Kunisada, to create this level of beauty ✨
