"Beauty and Children Playing by the Snowball", from the series "Elegant Beauties and Precious Children" (風流美人子宝合) by Kikugawa Eizan, 1810.

The eye just moves from one lovely detail to another in this gorgeous artwork - the beaming face of the baby, her little hand reaching out to the big snowball; the exquisite outfit and hairstyle of the beautiful woman; the graceful movement, as she turns and gazes down in passing; her small bare foot in a geta sandal, as white as the snow she steps on; the little child, all wrapped up, craning his neck and warming both hands in his mouth in a cute gesture. In the background, the curving branch accentuated by some remaining red berries completes the composition, elegantly balancing the criss-cross of everyone's gazes and movement ♡
