A calligraphy of one of Japan’s most beautiful expressions.

Ichigo Ichie can be translated as “one chance in a lifetime” or “a moment that will never come again.”
Rooted in Zen Buddhist thought and closely associated with the Japanese tea ceremony, the phrase reflects the idea that even if the same people meet again, the exact moment they share can never be repeated. Each encounter is unique — and worth being fully present for.

Printed in a flowing Gyōsho (semi-cursive) brush style, with a very gently distressed finish that preserves the organic movement of traditional calligraphy.
