"Beauty in the Snow" (風流名所 雪月花) by Kikukawa Eizan, 19th century.

A beauty walks through gently falling snow, her sumptuous kimono and gold "kanzashi" in her hair gleaming beneath a parasol.
Kikukawa Eizan (1787–1867), a master of bijin-ga (“pictures of beautiful women”) in the Edo period, captures her with exquisite grace — the delicate lines of her face, the wisp of hair at her cheek, the small hand hidden in her sleeve as she shields herself from the cold. The soft, harmonious colours evoke the quiet poetry of a winter’s day in nineteenth-century Japan.

The artwork is set within a festive frame of deep green and gold, subtly patterned with snow to complement the artwork’s serene atmosphere. The result is a harmonious blend of traditional Japanese aesthetics and seasonal warmth — perfect for Christmas or New Year ♡

On the back, printed in Japanese calligraphy:
